On Saturday, December 7, the governing body officially announced the player auction list for the 2025 Women’s Premier League Auction (WPL 2025 Auction).
Women’s Premier League Auction 2025 (Auction WPL 2025) will be held on December 15, 2024 in Bangalore. Sunday’s event starts at 3:00 p.m.

WPL 2025 auction: 120 players listed
The governing body have finalized a total of 120 players to go under the hammer in the Women’s Premier League auction. Out of these 120 cricketers, 91 players are Indians and 29 are overseas cricketers, of which 3 are from Association of Nations. Those Associate Nation players are Scotland’s Sarah Bryce and UAE’s Samaira Darnidharka and Theertha Satish.
Nine players entering the auction are Indians and 21 are overseas players. Also, the player auction list consists of 82 Indian players and 8 uncapped overseas players.
However, only 19 players will be sold in the auction, 5 of which are foreigners, as there are only so many places open in all five Women’s Premier Leagues (WPL). teams.

WPL 2025 Auction: Teams given INR 15 million to build squads
Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Gujarat Giants Women, Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz have been given a total of INR 15 crore to build their teams for the 2025 season, up from INR 13.5 crore last year.
The Gujarat giants will enter the auction with the biggest purse of INR 4.40 crore and they will look to rebuild their squad after releasing 7 players.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals Women’s Doubles have the second smallest purse of INR 2.5 crore. The remaining teams – Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women and UP Warriorz have a purse of INR 2.65 crore, INR 3.25 crore and INR 3.90 crore respectively.
Delhi Capitals Women, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have four spots available, while UP Warriors have three spots available.
The biggest attraction will be this year’s auction West Indies comprehensive Diandra Dottin, England captain Heather Knight and former South Africa wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee, all commanding the highest prices at INR 50 lakh.
The 2025 Women’s Premier League is scheduled to take place in the February-March window and then, from 2026, it will be moved to the January-February window.
Like the IPL, the WPL is not played in a home and away format and only a limited number of venues host matches. The inaugural season was hosted entirely by Mumbai, while the second season was hosted across Bengaluru and New Delhi.
