US Coast Guard rescued two people from water after a small plane crashed into a near island on Sunday Bronford, Connecticut.

Piper, carrying two people, crashed into the PA -32 Long Island Sound, to the south Tweed New Heaven Airport.

Officials said the plane was traveling indefinitely from the Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Bridgeport.

Tweed New Heaven is about eight miles from the airport when it was redirected for an emergency landing.
