An estimated 250 million bees escaped from the truck over Friday in Washington, the US, raising warnings from the public to avoid the stinging group of insects.
Several master bee-keepers helped emergency officials after a truck carrying approximately 70,000 pounds (31,750 kg) active drip bee hives, hitting the road near the Canadian border.
“The goal is to save as many bees as possible,” said Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) shortly after the incident.
Officials said the site of the accident would be closed until the “rescue completed”.
“250 million bees are now loose,” said Whatcom County Sheriff. “Avoid the area due to the bee’s escape and the ability of the group”.
Bee-keepers worked with the police to “re-set the box hives”, with containers used to build bees to build bees.
“It is a plan to allow bees to re-hive and find their queen bees,” WCSO said: “It should happen in the next 24-48 hours.”
In an update posted to social media after Friday, the police thanked the “Bee-Left’s Wonderful Community”, saying that “more than two dozen” rescue efforts.
“In the morning, most bees had to return to their hives,” WCSO wrote on Facebook.
It showed that a large number of bees were squeezing around the lorry spreading in the piece shared by the police.
If some beekeepers are aimed at producing only honey, many others rent their hives to farmers who need insects to pollinate their crops.
