Summer is almost on us – and as the temperature rises, beach lovers across the country are instinctive for the perfect escape from the beach.
And if you are looking for a few rays from the crowd, one Welsh beach has just been named the best hidden coastal jewel in the country.
Treardurbaai, just south of Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesy, was named the best lesser -known beach destination in the UK.
The new study – led by Insured4 boats – over 250 British coastal towns analyzed using With office data, Instagram Popularity and local attractions, and found that the North Wales resort is an excellent place for sun-seekers and water sports lovers.
Trearddurbaai, which is described as ‘sought after’ with ‘crystal clear waters’, recorded high across the entire plate, with a perfect 10 on Instagram, high sunshine and low rainfall ratings.
Whether you want to kayak, paddleboarding or simply take the panoramic views of the sea, the bay is considered a playground for outdoor enthusiasts.
There is plenty to explore outside the beach itself: rock pools, scenic hiking trails and a variety of cafes and restaurants – including the beach cafe at the beach – can keep visitors to the evening.
The Sea Shanty Café, located next to the beach, serves many traditional coasts at the beach, including cod mussels, along with a turn menu items, such as Moules Frites and Thai Fish Cakes.

The resort also contains a ‘ghostly’ family home, the remains of an ancient forest that sometimes appears under the sand, and even an annual New Year’s Day space – a tradition launched to raise money for the local RNLI.
Treardurbaai is also home to its own golf course, a live Oyster Festival, and is located next to the lesser-known Porth Diana beach, a hotspot for rock pools.
Salcombe Regis and Goodrington Down in Devon are in the joint second place as the best hidden coastal stones of the UK.
Salcombe Regis, located in the SID Valley, covered the map for the number of attractions with more than 49 things to do, while Goodrington impressed with his sheltered bay and classic English Riviera.
In a joint third, the banks of Lydd-On-Sea in Kent that were tied up with Mwnt in Cerredlededion, Wales.
Lydd, just 38 minutes of London by train, boasts the highest monthly sunshine hours on the list, while MWNT was more popular and collected more than 4,400 monthly Google searches.
Fourth is Crimdon, County Durham, followed by ynyslas, based in Cerredlededion, Wales in fifth place and the island of Port Erin in sixth place.

On social media, visitors have long preached the beauty of Trearddur, with one TripAdvisor user in a thread: ‘We’ve been going to Treinndurbaai for 8 years, it’s absolutely beautiful. Fantastic beaches, hikes, national confidence and bars. ‘
Another user, a resident of Treardurbaai, said: ‘I live in Tearndurbaai, has been here for about 15 years. I feel happy to live in such a safe and clean environment, and this is the case all year.
‘The beach is very clean and is manned by wardens in the summer. There is also a life boat station here. The town is not busy with a lot of nightlife, but there are places to go, and it is important that your children are welcome. ‘
Eventually, a third wrote: ‘Beautiful clean but quiet environment. It is ideal for hiking, cycling, young children with 2 or 3 very good eateries. Sea Shanty, Black Seal and Trearrdur Hotel. Very impressed and will be back soon. ‘
