Union representing thousands of federal and state employees, members hammered out a work-from-home deal ahead of the new Trump administration’s efforts to force workers back to work.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) reached an agreement with the Social Security Administration (SSA) on telecommuting protections, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing reports viewed by the outlet.
The updated contract, which affects 42,000 state employees, will allow workers to remain hybrid until 2029.

Under the new agreement, worker requirements vary from two to five days a week depending on the job, the agency said, citing people familiar with the matter.
