‘RHONY’ star Rebecca Minkoff slams pregnancy prank, calls it a ‘huge mistake’
Rebecca Minkoff deals with the fallout from her controversial pregnancy antics The Real Housewives of New York City. Talking about Virtual Real tea podcast, the fashion designer admitted that her plan to reveal a “rumor starter” among the cast was a mistake, especially given her co-star’s struggles with fertility.
“In retrospect, (it) was a terrible subject. I own it” Rebecca said. “I had no idea Jessel, Change, or Brynn went through what they went through. Any woman going through infertility – bad idea. I struggled with it myself.”
Rebecca explained that the prank was intended to expose the actors’ “liars” but admitted, “The goal did not justify the subject.”
During the interview, Racquel Chevremont pressed Rebecca on whether the backlash stemmed from the prank’s content or its staged nature.
“Is that what everyone was upset about, was the actual topic? Or just the fact that it was a manufactured joke?” Rachel asked. “Both,” Rebecca acknowledged and took responsibility for the controversial moment.
Rebecca also taken up Erin Lichys comments from Bravo fanfest, where Erin shaded cloth bags Rebecca gave the actors, calling them “not my style.” Rebecca didn’t hold back in his answer.
“You know what, she’s not in fashion, so I have very low expectations (of Erin’s style)” Rebecca said throwing in a jab at Erin’s former purse line.
“I’m waiting for the bag … Is her company still there? I don’t know.”
Jessel Tank, who joined Rebecca for the interview, praised her candor, saying, “I like this new thing Rebecca.” Rachel chimed in, adding, “We need more of this!” Rebecca ended the discussion on a lighthearted note, joking, “Where was she during the shoot?”
