Turkey’s antitrust authority has dropped its investigation into Meta data sharing, Reuters reports

ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Turkey’s Competition Council said on Thursday it had decided to drop an investigation into Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: ) regarding the sharing of data between social media platforms Threads and Instagram.

The commitments provided by the company to address competition concerns are sufficient and the authority has therefore decided to discontinue the investigation, the statement said.

The council launched an investigation into Meta last year over a possible breach of competition law linked to links on its social media platforms.

In April, Meta temporarily shut down its Threads social media platform in Turkey to comply with a temporary order from the Turkish competition authority.
