The Miami Herald reports that Timothy Hyder and his ex-fiancée, Natalie “Dawn” Du’Mee, had been together for about three years before the tragic incident unfolded. According to the outlet, the couple attended a party where Natalie told Timothy that she no longer intended to marry him. After they returned home, she reportedly returned the engagement ring and reiterated her position.
Police revealed that Du’Mee’s daughter, who was upstairs watching a movie, allegedly saw Hyder enter the room and go to a closet shortly after midnight. Moments later, he retrieved a gun, went downstairs to confront Natalie and asked if she was serious about not getting married before allegedly shooting her in the head.
Per PEOPLE, Natalie Du’Mee’s daughter heard the shots and later found her mother with severe head and mouth injuries. She claimed that Timothy Hyder confessed to killing his mother after the incident.
“It’s over, I blew her brains out,” Hyder reportedly said. He then urged her to call 911.
When officers arrived on the scene on December 1, they found Natalie sitting on the front porch with a gunshot wound to the right side of her head. Police also discovered a handgun lying open on the kitchen counter.
Police reported that Hyder admitted at the scene that he felt remorse for his actions. “He wished he could take back what happened and that he struck,” explained officials.

PEOPLE reveals that Timothy Hyder is facing a first-degree murder charge in the death of 58-year-old Natalie Du’Mee. He was taken into custody and jailed on Sunday, December 1. It is currently unknown if he has legal representation or entered a plea.
After the tragedy, St. Cloud Police Chief Douglas Goerke offered his condolences in a statement.
“Our hearts go out to the victim and her loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time,” Chief Goerke said in the news release.
