Mitchell Starc once again showed his dominance as the Australian pacer has now shown the way to Virat Kohli in the second Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. After sending Yashaswi Jaiswal and KL Rahul to the pavilion, Starc made it a memorable outing for Kohli.
Virat Kohli scored just 7 runs off 8 balls in the first ball of the 21st over in the ongoing overnight Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval. It was a huge breakthrough for Australia. Mitchell Starc bowled a short delivery outside the fifth or sixth line.
Mitchell Starc sends Virat Kohli packing for just 7 in the Adelaide Test
The mark of the Indian batsman was a little late in pulling his bat and the ball bounced off the face of the bat. The ball dropped at second slip to Steve Smith who was kneeling to take the catch easily to give Australia the fourth wicket in the first session in Adelaide.
Interestingly, Smith looked puzzled, perhaps not having seen the ball until late, while Virat Kohli was disappointed, looking at the pitch and his bat thumb before walking off. It was a ball that the right-hander could have left alone, but just like in the Perth Test, he couldn’t get his bat out of the way late on and it cost him against Mitchell Starc.
A good player is a player who learns from his mistakes.

Virat Kohli’s image has put India under a lot of pressure and now social media is abuzz with reactions to the former Indian batsman’s yet another flop show. While many trolled Kohli for repeating the same mistake, some suggested that the batting image should be revised to reflect his batting technique.
Indian fans were hoping that Virat Kohli would continue his form in the second Test after smashing an unbeaten hundred in the second innings of the first Test in Perth, but the big batsman once again disappointed everyone.
However, fans are now hoping to see a big innings from Virat Kohli in the second Test against Australia as India are already in danger at the Adelaide Oval.
Here’s how fans are reacting to Virat Kohli’s failure in the Adelaide Test:

#ViratKohli Virat Kohli can rethink his technique. He can watch his old videos in good condition and score. But in the last two years, his balance while hitting the ball has not been the same. His head usually falls off the line of the ball! This reform is long overdue.

Starc lifts Australia for the second spell. Big gate #ViratKohli and then broke. Three quick wickets in a dramatic pre-lunch session. Kohli once again looked unimpressed about jumping down the corridor of uncertainty. #IndvsAus #Test Pinkball #BorderGavaskarTrophy

Sanjay, you have always rightly pointed out how Virat bounces on the front foot to deliveries that should be played off the back foot.

Australia dominate the first session of the Adelaide Test, thanks to Mitchell Starc
Australia, meanwhile, dominated the first session, scoring four goals, and that continued with three goals in the last 20 minutes against India in the Adelaide Test. The session started with an early lead as Mitchell Starc dismissed Yashaswi Jaiswal for a golden duck and proved too much for the young Indian opener in the ongoing Pink-Ball Test with late pace.

KL Rahul then found his rhythm playing some lovely cover drives and his partnership with Shubman Gill looked dangerous after he slipped and fell off the ball. It forced Australian captain Pat Cummins to change his bowling.
Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc were brought back into the attack and the big pacer struck again, dismissing Rahul for 37 runs off 64 balls. Lyon then got out after one over and Scott Boland came back into the attack and Shubman dismissed Gill for 31 off 51 balls.
Later, Kohli was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for just 7 runs. In the final 20 minutes, Australia scored three key goals to turn the session in their favour. India now need a solid partnership to recover from the 82/4 loss in the one-day Test.
