‘RHOSLC’ RECAP: Mary Cosby’s Son Admits Mixing Xanax & Cocaine In Emotional Confession!
A mother confronts the truth
The November 27 episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City took an emotional turn for Mary Cosby. Mary faces one of the most challenging moments of his life — addressing his son Robert Jr drug addiction. In a raw and heartbreaking exchange, Mary sits down with his 21-year-old son as he opens up about his addiction problems.
“I take Xanax,” Robert Jr. agrees. “I only take half to relax, and then I had an Adderall to balance out the Xanax.”
Maryvisibly emotional, listening as he continues to reveal the extent of his struggles. “When I get high, it’s like adding spices to it,” Robert Jr. explains and describes how the subjects hide his sense of unhappiness.
Robert Jr.’s journey into addiction
Robert Jr. says his experimentation began at age 16, during a party where a friend gave him Xanax. “At first I thought, ‘I’ll just stick to natural things,'” he recalls. “Then I went to a party and somebody gave me Xanax. I started buying it. Then I started doing Xanax with Acid and then Molly with Xanax. I really like Xanax, so I mix it with everything. Xanax and cocaine.”
The revelations only become more alarming Robert Jr. describes his use of opioids. “You know the regular 30mg Oxys? I noticed this was a turning point for me. I took 10 at once and I couldn’t even feel it.”
Mary’s Heartbreak
As her son describes his struggles, Mary begins to cry but assures him that her love is unconditional.
“I would never judge you,” she says Robert Jr. “I can try to help you, but you have to help yourself because I won’t support it. Do you accept that you have a problem?”
In her confession, Mary reflects on Robert Jr years past and how far he has strayed from the boy she once knew. “Robert was like the perfect child. He was very good at school, he got straight As, all the way until he graduated,” she says. “When he decided to do something, he did it. He was, like, our prize. Very smart, very advanced. That’s the Robert I know. That’s Robert I’m trying to reach.”
Mary also expresses guilt for not recognizing the signs sooner. “I feel like I let him down somewhere,” she admits. “I trusted him in my mind and thought that was where he was going to end. I was clearly wrong. I missed the mark.”
A life-changing admission
The conversation takes an even more emotional turn when Robert Jr. revealing the depth of his despair. “I wanted to die,” he admits. “I just felt like a stain. I just felt like this world wasn’t for me.”
Marydevastated by his words, tells him, “Do you know how that would kill me?” She pleads with him to see his worth and the love she has for him. “I think I love you more than dad, like, don’t ever tell dad I said that, but you’re my friend, you’re my son, you’re my gift. God gave you to me.”
As the two embrace, Robert Jr. whispers, “I love you.”
An ongoing journey
In the days before the episode aired, Mary shared an update on Robert Jr. during an interview with Us Weekly. “He’s steady, which I think is good,” she said. “It’s a heavy subject. But for me, because it all came at once and I didn’t expect it, but I take it day by day.”
Despite the challenges, Mary remains hopeful for her son’s future, stressing that love and support will be key to his recovery.
