Meri and Kody’s emotional farewell
The episode starts at Mary Brown’s Bed & Breakfast in Parowan, Utah, where she and Kody Brown sharing a tearful embrace after he permanently moved her there. Cody thanks Meri for allowing him to leave their relationship in peace after years of turmoil.
“This moment with Mary do I go from anger to this very moment of sadness? Cody explains in his confession. “And just try to be safe in it, sit in it, own it and heal it.”
Marybut is left questioning her decision as Cody drive away.
“I’m so confused,” she admits. “Part of me was like, ‘Oh, what have I done?’ Maybe I did it wrong.’”
Cody’s tears also leave an impression on his former brother-in-law Nathan Dilts, who accompanies him during the move.
“When we get in my car and drive away, (Nathan) just touches me and says, ‘Dude, you know I’m not one to push, but are you sure?’ Cody remember.
Despite the emotional farewell, Cody remains steadfast in his decision to end their marriage. “I know that Mary and I can’t be married. And I don’t question our experience because it’s a great memory. It’s just the end.”
Mary reflects on her conflicted feelings, acknowledges her doubts but ultimately stands by her decision. “If you’re so clear that you never want to be married to me, but you’re sitting here whining about ‘the end of an era’ and ‘we had something special,’ which one is it?” she wonders aloud.
Savannah’s graduation party without Kody
Janelle is hosting a graduation party for his daughter, Savannah, at Christine’s home in Utah. Notably absent is Kody, as Janelle decides not to invite him or Robyn.
“Cody is alienated from 90 to 95 percent of his children.” Janelle explains. “He’s not really wanted at events. He doesn’t come regardless of who he brings or doesn’t bring.”
Cody blames his estrangement on the family’s resentment of Robyn.
“I would like to be a part of Savannah’s life, but it’s like they’re in this conspiracy that seems to hate Robyn, and I don’t know why other than they’re jealous.” Cody says.
Janellebut sees things differently. “Cody has this idea that if he leaves Robyn’s home, he will be welcomed at family gatherings. That’s so far from the truth.”
Meri’s solo trip to England
In an attempt to regain her independence, Mary takes a trip to England and documents visits to iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, King’s Cross Station and Buckingham Palace.
“This is, seriously, just kind of a defining moment,” Mary parts in a video. “I mean, the world is my oyster!”
The highlight of her trip is a visit to Stonehenge, where she becomes visibly emotional.
“I literally can’t believe I’m here” Mary says and wipes away the tears. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for, probably, most of my life.”
Her fascination with Stonehenge goes back decades. “I remember one night I was up watching this documentary about Stonehenge, and it made me even more fascinated.”
Coyote Pass disputes
Back in Flagstaff, the family is still at odds over dividing up the Coyote Pass property. Cody has proposed changes to the original lot divisions, which include two lots for him and Robynone for Janelleand a shared between Janelle and Mary.
Mary insisting on getting an assessment, saying, “I’m not married to Cody longer. I am not a part of Cody and Robyn’s unit. I have to look out for myself.”
Janelle accuses Cody to resist the assessment because he knows he is benefiting from the arrangement.
“I think so Cody is resistant to being judged because he knows he’s making out like a bandit.” Janelle says.
Codyhowever, seems uninterested in resolving the property dispute. “I don’t want to deposit more money. I don’t want to judge. I don’t want to talk to lawyers about it. I am not interested in doing anything.”
The group stands still, with no solution in sight.
Kody’s Vegas Nostalgia
In an attempt to escape the family drama, Cody takes a trip to Las Vegas with his brothers. During the visit, he reflects on their time living in a cul-de-sac with separate homes for each wife.
“We’re calling our four-home cul-de-sac setup during our Las Vegas stretch ‘the best time of my life'” Cody says. – Everything went smoothly. Maddie and Caleb were around, and it was great to have them around. And I loved Caleb. He was definitely like family.”
Cody laments how things fell apart after the family moved to Flagstaff, citing coronavirus-related tensions and the breakdown of his marriage as contributing factors.
Selective memory and marital frustrations
During a meeting with Cody and Robyn about Coyote Pass, Mary venting his frustration Cody’s apparent lack of interest in her life, especially her trip to Stonehenge.
“Didn’t you know I’m obsessed with Stonehenge and how important this was to me?” Mary asks.
Cody brushes off her complaints and blames his forgetfulness on being a man.
“There are some things I’ll just remember and there are some things that just won’t matter to me, even if they matter to you,” he says.
Janelle and Christine eco Meris feelings, claims Cody only pays attention to things that he personally finds interesting.
