Since the time of the ancient Greeks 2,000 years ago, people have known that the Earth is the world.
Despite this, some people still believe that we live on a huge disk floating in space called ‘Flat Earth’.
Now, one of the most famous ‘Flat Earthers’ on the internet has settled on the truth.
Jeran Campanella, who runs the popular Flat Earth YouTube program ‘Jeransim’, has gone to Antarctica as part of an expedition called ‘The Final Experiment’.
Mr. Campanella observed for the first time that the sun never sets in the southern hemisphere – disproving one of the most popular conspiracy theories.
While in Antarctica, he tells the camera: ‘Sometimes you make mistakes in life and I think there is no 24-hour sun. In fact, I was sure of that.
‘And it’s true – the sun goes around you in the south. So what does that mean? You people will find that out for yourselves.’
Campanella thanked the organizer of the trip, which cost $35,000 (£27,500) – although he stopped short of claiming that the Earth is round.

In the world, Antarctica is the southernmost island of the world. But on a Flat Earth, Antarctica is a wall of ice that surrounds all the other continents and holds all of the world’s oceans.

Mr. Campanella was featured in the 2018 documentary ‘Behind the Curve’ where he uncritically challenged his ideas and lighthearted experiments.
The co-creator of the GlobeBusters YouTube channel, which has 73,000 subscribers, is a self-described ‘Globalist’ activist and crypto enthusiast.
His website Jeransim.com whips up everything from ‘anti-NASA’ t-shirts and beies to crypto, herbal powder capsules and private Zoom parties.
When he agreed to go to Antarctica on the condition that he would not pay for the trip, he expected the sun to rise and set inexplicably.
But in the new video, he sheepishly accepts the truth and admits that people may see him as a ‘shill’ – a fraud who takes part in hiding that the Earth is round.
‘I realize I’m going to be called a shill for just saying that and you know what, if you’re a shill for being honest, so be it,’ he said.
‘I honestly believe there wasn’t a 24-hour sun – I honestly now believe there is.’
As any knowledgeable person will know, Antarctica is the southernmost island of our planet.

When Campanella agreed to go to Antarctica on the condition that he would not have to pay for the trip, he expected the sun to rise and disappear – as it does in many countries around the world.

During the summer of the southern hemisphere and the northern hemisphere, the sun is visible all day, including midnight – a phenomenon known as the ‘midnight sun’. Pictured, multiple exposures of the midnight sun over Lake Ozhogino in Yakutia, Russia
Due to the tilt of the Earth, the sun does not set in the southern hemisphere (or northern hemisphere) in the summer – it just moves around the sky.
This means that the sun is visible all day, including midnight – a phenomenon known as the ‘midnight sun’.
But Flat Earthers, or ‘Flerfs’, believe that Antarctica is a wall of ice that surrounds all the other continents and holds all of the world’s oceans.
Therefore, they think that the sun rises and sets every day, every day, regardless of whether it is summer or not.
Counting night and day, many experts believe that the sun moves around the North Pole, and sunlight acts as light on the earth.
About three years ago, Will Duffy, a Colorado pastor, was made aware that people still believe the Earth is flat when a friend posted on Facebook.
Since Flat Earthers have said for years that Antarctica will show the world the truth about the shape of the Earth, Mr. Duffy decided that the easiest way was to go to Antarctica.
“When we go to Antarctica, no one will waste time arguing about the shape of the Earth,” he said.

Called ‘The Final Experiment’, the trip was organized by Will Duffy, a shepherd from Colorado (pictured)

Mr. Campanella was featured in the 2018 documentary ‘Behind the Curve’ where he unwittingly challenged his ideas with a lighthearted experiment.

The Flat Earther said that if the light can be seen with a camera, the holes in the fence and the lights are all very different on the surface of the earth, then he can say that the earth is flat.
“I created The Final Experiment to settle this debate, once and for all,” he said.
On December 14, Mr Duffy flew with four Flat Earthers (including Mr Campanella) and four globe earthers to Antarctica.
Duffy said he photographed the sun for 25 hours straight, using SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network to navigate.
Spectacular pictures from the glacier show the midnight sun with the towering mountains in the background.
‘That’s the midnight sun – so the sun hasn’t set all the time we’ve been here,’ the pastor said to the camera.
‘I put on sunscreen in the middle of the night so I don’t get burnt in the middle of the night when I’m doing this.’
He passes by Mr. Campanella, who humbly admits that he was wrong, seeing the sun go round and round above his head.
However, another famous Flat Earther on the trip, Austin Witsit, is having trouble letting go of the theory.

About 10 percent of Americans still believe the Earth is flat, according to a 2021 survey
Witsit said that there is a 24-hour sun, but he denied that this proves that the Earth is a planet.
“I don’t think it fools the (flat) Earth plane, I don’t think it proves the Earth – I think it’s one place,” he said.
Likewise, other YouTuber conspiracy theorists were left unconvinced, with many suggesting the group stood in front of a green screen.
During the live chat, YouTube user Nandy wrote: ‘THIS IS GREEN CULTURE, PUT UP A TOWER AND THREE FINGERS IF IT’S REAL, the world will always be flat’, while user Fozzy_Foster said: ‘move the green camera screen.’
Another user, Oz Riv, called Mr Duffy a ‘shill’, adding: ‘You are a pastor promoting the world which is not in line with the Bible. And you work with NASA.’
Scientists have known for thousands of years that the Earth is round because the sun sets at different times in different places.
If the Earth were flat, then shadows would be the same length, regardless of location.
For astronauts and robotics equipped with cameras, the curvature of the Earth has also been clearly visible.
It was the Greek philosopher Pythagoras who first said that the Earth was round around 500 BC, but it was around 350 BC when Aristotle said that the Earth is round.
This was based on what Aristotle said about the constellations you can see in the sky when you travel far from the equator.
