Last week I told you about one cease and desist letter issued by Valnet, where they demanded my silence. Valnet is the parent company of websites such as Screen Rant, Game Rant, Collider, Movie Web and CBR. that letter (which can be read in full here) threatening legal action if I don’t comply with their demands to remove posts referencing their company and its websites.
Below are two examples of statements Valnet requires removal of. They cite many other examples in their complete cease and desist letter.

My lawyer has now prepared a response, which we have sent to Valnet’s legal council. Our response clearly states that we consider Valnet’s claims to be “frivolous” because the cited posts are protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
We believe the letter from Valnet’s legal counsel is a clear attempt to silence open dialogue about the business practices of their company and its associated media entities such as Screen Rant.
“The only thing that is ‘absolutely clear’ is that Mr. Tyler shared his opinions and information he gathered on the Internet. It is also clear that your letter is an attempt to silence Tyler, and to prevent open dialogue about Valnet’s business practices in the market of ideas.”
I will not delete my posts, all of which contain opinions and other protected discourse. I fully assert my right and the right of all independent publishers and journalists to freely express opinions and share facts about Valnet or any of its media properties.
How Valnet will react to this refusal to comply with their demands remains to be seen.
