A technology problem at Alaska Airlines led to a temporary grounding of flights to Seattle on Monday morning and problems into the afternoon for people trying to book flights on its website, the airline said.
The Seattle-based company said the problem on Monday morning had caused “significant disruption” to its operations – including flight delays. The airline said it requested a 40-minute stopover at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to relieve aircraft congestion.
No further details about the technological problem were available, and the cause of the outages was unclear.
A message on the company’s website on Monday afternoon said the company was experiencing problems booking flights on its website, mobile app and contact center.
“We apologize to our guests who were affected and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” the statement said.
Problems arose at the start of the company’s Cyber Monday flight sale. In the comments from his account on X The carrier also apologized to customers complaining about missed flights, delays and problems using the airline’s app and website.
