The Taj Mahal in Agra was the target of a bomb threat on Tuesday, which was later confirmed to be a hoax. According to police, the Uttar Pradesh regional tourism office received an email alert about a potential blast at the iconic monument.
“The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Bureau has received an email threatening to blow up the Taj Mahal,” said ACP Syed Arib Ahmad.
“The email was immediately sent to Agra police and ASI, Agra circle for action. Based on this, a case has been registered in the Tajganj police station. Further investigation is underway…”, he added.
Bomb disposal squad, dog squad and other teams were called but they did not find anything suspicious, he told PTI.
