Boeing announces layoffs notice to more than 100 employees throughout Florida beginning in January 2025, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act letter.
Locations include Titusville and Kennedy Space Centerwhere Boeing plays a key role in the aerospace industry. In 2023, the company spent more than $1 billion with suppliers in Florida, highlighting its economic impact in the region.
Boeing released a statement to the Orlando Business Journal in which it attributed the layoffs to the need to “align workforce levels with financial realities and a more focused set of priorities.”
In October, Boeing released the cut about 17,000 employees who are expected to leave the company in mid-January, Boeing said. The layoffs that followed the union strike equated to 10% of the workforce.

“We are adjusting our workforce levels to reflect our financial reality and a more focused set of priorities,” Boeing told FOX Business in October.
In an Oct. 23 statement, CEO Kelly Ortberg said the company is “at a crossroads.”
He said the company’s credibility has been undermined and it is burdened with too much debt. Still, he saw big opportunities ahead, including a roughly half-trillion-dollar backlog and “a customer base that wants us and needs us to succeed.”

“So my mission here is pretty simple. To turn this great ship in the right direction and return Boeing to the leadership position we all know and want,” said Ortberg.
Experts in the field are worried about what this could mean.
