Craig Cummings, Ex new Zealand cricket, has been appointed head coach of Blaze, a Tier 1 women’s domestic cricket team.
Cumming’s impressive coaching career with the Otago Sparks, where he led them to two Hallyburton Johnstone Shield titles, made him the ideal candidate for the role.
His stint with Blaze begins after the Super Smash T20 tournament, marking a new chapter in his career.
Cumming expressed his excitement at joining the Blaze, emphasizing the team’s high standards and close-knit environment.
“I feel very humbled and privileged to have been selected as the head coach of the Blaze,” Cummings said.
“I already know some of the players and staff and have visited in the UK over the last two years, so I know that everyone is working to the highest standards. But most importantly, I know that I will be joining a team. great people, both on and off the field.
“I can’t wait to be a part of this great team and I’m ambitious to help build on the success they’ve had over the past two seasons.”
He acknowledges their recent achievements and intends to contribute significantly to their future achievements.

Cumming’s appointment comes after Chris Guest, the previous manager, took over as England Women’s Under-19 coach.

“We conducted a comprehensive and global search for the ideal candidate and among some very strong applicants – Craig’s credentials and pedigree were the most compelling.
“We have an exciting summer ahead of us, with an extensive fixture list and a squad with a mix of young talent and international experience, and I’m sure Craig’s fresh perspective will be a huge asset.”
