Former national selector Jatin Paranjape shared his opinion on the situation surrounding it India Leader of the national cricket team Prithvi Shaw. He listed three things the young batsman must do to regain his reputation as a player.
Prithvi Shaw who was touted as his future in his early days Sachin TendulkarHe witnessed a huge decline in his career. From underestimating a generational talent to not being on stage, even in the inner circle, speaks volumes about his struggles.
He set the stage on fire when he came on the scene and the way he took big steps forward, it was almost certain that he would be the future of the Indian batting team. He met expectations early on, but his off-field appearances have since led to his downfall, along with his performances.
Prithvi Shaw, who smashed a century on his Test debut, seemed to have sealed his place in the team across formats. But after his injury, he could not return to the team. His off-field views didn’t work against him either, as he also faced numerous disciplinary charges that kept him sidelined.
Prithvi Shaw was recently dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji squad due to fitness and discipline issues.
Prithvi Shaw was recently dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji squad due to fitness and disciplinary issues. He made a comeback in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 but that too did not go in his favor as he failed in all four matches including two ducks.
As Prithvi Shaw struggles to get going, Jatin Paranjape said the batsman must have an organized mind. At the same time, he needs to work on his game against the wheel. The former India selector said that the young woman should also work on her fitness.
At 25, he still has time to bounce back – Jatin Paranjape on Prithvi Show
While stressing that Prithvi Shaw could still make a comeback, Paranjape said the batsman needs to lose weight. He also invited Mumbai Batter to work with Ramji Srinivasan for 10 days and focus on his turnaround. He wrote in his column for Sportstar:
“First, he has to have an organized mind. Second, he has to have an organized game against the wheel. Third, he has to have an organized approach to his fitness conditioning. Being organized is the key to his style. This is definitely not a turning point for him. , because he has time to come back at 25 years old.
“If I were Prithvi, I would do a quick assessment and come to the conclusion that fitness is a major missing component in his game. Without that, his future in cricket is uncertain. I would stress this aspect: if he can shed 7 to 10 kilos to lose weight without losing strength, it would be a decisive start, if I were him, I would camp with Ramji Srinivasan for 10 days Dedicate the next two to three years to this transformation, and the results will show in the next 45 to 60 days.”
He needs to emulate legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli – Jatin Paranjape in Prithvi Shaw
Jatin Paranjape added that Prithvi Shaw looked tired against the spinners, noting that every spinner managed to get him out. He added that the Mumbai batsmen should emulate legends like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar, who despite being successful never lost their love for the game. He explained:
“I have told him many times that he is too generous against spinners. Almost every domestic spinner in India has managed to get him out. He needs to reassess his game against spin. His game itself is not lacking. — he can shoot easily on both sides of the goal, but when the wheel comes into play, the legs get tired and it goes back to his fitness.”
“Having known him for a long time, I am sure that Prithvi loves batting. He should emulate legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli who, despite their immense success, continue to play for immense love. For example, Kohli is like a child. In a toy shop in the field, that passion is essential.”
