Britain, France and Germany have to negotiate with Iran’s Foreign Minister on Friday, in recent efforts to avoid escalation of conflicts in the Middle East and possible interference in the United States.
Negotiations in Geneva, which should participate in foreign ministers of three European countries, come to the shadow of US President Donald Trump’s warnings that he may join Israel against Iran.
“It is better to consider through negotiations than as a result of the conflict … The risk of escalation across the region is obvious,” said UK Prime Minister Sir Kire Starmer on Thursday.
He added that the UK “completely” recognized the right of Israel to self -defense: “But the principle is that we need to de -escalate it.”
The European capitals make up plans for the US, which come into conflict with tensions raised since Trump publicly recognized on Thursday that he “could enter” the war.
The UK government has confirmed that David Lami, the UK Foreign Minister, will be present at the Geneva negotiations after negotiations with Mark Rubio, his US colleague in Washington on Thursday.
A meeting in Geneva with Iran Abbas Arakhchi is the revival of the “E3” format, in which Britain, France and Germany-European nuclear signatories in 2015 signed with the global powers to resolve the country’s confrontation with the West.
The purpose of the meeting would be to agree on the basis for restarting Iran’s nuclear monitoring, but with international monitors is provided unimpeded access to facilities. Another question on the table will be whether Iran will be ready to make a commitment to cut their ballistic missiles.
The crisis over Iran’s nuclear program flared up after Trump unilaterally refused the agreement in 2018. Tehran responded, expanding his nuclear activity and enriched uranium to a level close to the level of weapons.
The Trump administration held five rounds of indirect negotiations with Iran before the diplomatic process was transferred on Friday, when Israel launched its strikes – a few days before the sixth round of negotiations was planned.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has opposed diplomatic efforts, said he had started the war to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in Iran.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Arahchi will meet with colleagues from Britain, France and Germany, high -level first diplomacy with Tehran since Israel has started attacks on Iran.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Nael Baro told reporters on Thursday: “We expressed their willingness to participate in the negotiations aimed at providing Iran in the long-term lapel of its nuclear program and its ballistic missile program.”
He said: “Negotiations remain the only way to achieve a lasting lapel of Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program … That’s why we urge to return to the negotiations.”
The E3, which actively participated in the efforts with the Biden Administration for the Renaissance of 2015, was largely marginalized by Trump when he sought to pressure Iran into a new deal.
