If you travel abroad this summer, the Google Translate App can be useful to quickly translate a road sign or a conversation. Google Translate’s latest update allows you to choose the app as default translation apps for Apple iPhone AND iPad Execution of iOS and iPados 18.4 and subsequently. Previously, you were limited to the integrated Apple option.
Google began to exploit artificial intelligence to increase Google Translate offers, adding 110 languages last year to increase its total support for 249 Languages. Compare it with Apple Translate, which supports 19 languages. Neither Google nor Apple responded to a commentary request.
Both apps offer a voice and text translation, including a camera function that allows you to translate immediately by aiming the camera to the text. Both also allow you to use translation features without an Internet connection, which can be particularly useful when traveling to more remote places.
After using both, I discovered that Google’s translation collected a little faster, so I didn’t have to repeat myself constantly and the audio pronouncements were a little easier to understand than on Apple Translate. Setting Google Translate as a default app is simple on an iPhone or iPad, provided that it runs iOS and iPados 18.4 or later.
- Download the Google Translate App or update in the latest version.
- Go to the settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll downwards, then select the apps.
- Click on the predefined apps at the top of the screen.
- Then choose the translation.
- Select Google Translate.
