iFixit now offers official replacement parts for Xbox

As part of a deal he reached with Microsoft last yeariFixit has started selling original Xbox parts and offering repair guides, based on the modifications made to its Microsoft Repair Hub spotted by The limit. It now offers parts for the Xbox Series S and X models (digital and disk drives) ranging from cases to power supplies to motherboards, along with tool kits, thermal paste, and more.

iFixit announced its partnership with Microsoft in 2023 when it began offering official replacement parts for Microsoft Surface laptops. Additionally, it offered disassembly videos and step-by-step guides to help simplify relatively complex repairs.

It’s doing the same with Xbox, showing guides on replacing motherboards for each console, detailing each step and providing a list of needed parts and tools. The motherboard repair, for example, requires 29 steps to install along with additional steps to put everything back together. However, so far the company has not released any videos like it did for the Surface devices.

iFixit has similar deals with other tech giants, offering replacement parts for Google Pixel tablets AND Google Pixel Fold devices. It also partners with accessory maker Logitech, offering repair parts for two of its own most popular mouse models. The main obstacle is Apple, although iFixit recently gave the iPhone 16 a Decent repairability score after modifying the previous model due to software-limited “part matching” requirements. Last month the company it tore the PS5 Pro to pieces and I found it quite serviceable, although it doesn’t sell parts for the Sony console.
