The flights were temporarily disrupted at Liberia’s main airport on Thursday night after a private jet carrying President Joseph Bakai was almost crashed.
Airport officials said that a part of the landing gear of the presidential jet was inadequate when approaching the runway.
Local media reported that the incident, which was terrified at the airport, has demanded the cancellation of all the scheduled flights throughout the night.
President Bokai, who was returning from a Nigerian tour to his entourage, was evacuated without safely harming, as officials announced an investigation.
Photos of a jet stalled at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) are broadcast on social media, causing concern about the safety of the president.
Local media, citing airport officials, exploded when the plane tires were landed, which was trapped in the runway.
In a statement, the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) confirmed the “unfortunate accident scenario” consisting of the presidential jet.
The authority dismissed reports that the incident was caused by poor runway conditions.
“The runway infrastructure remains fully complied with international aviation safety standards,” LAA said.
The aircraft was removed from the runway and the general operations at the airport were resumed, officials said.
“At this point, there is an investigation into the establishment of the actual cause of the incident, and the airport authority gives the public an informed,” LAA said.
The position of Liberian President has not yet been responded to but it has shared photos of arrival at Bokai Airport, where he spoke briefly with journalists without mentioning the plane fear.
He had gone to Nigeria to attend the 50th anniversary of the regional economic community of the West African states (Ecovas).
