The game was one of three that kicked off at 15:00 GMT in the first games of the weekend after the earlier scheduled meeting between Everton and Liverpool was postponed.
The Merseyside derby final at Goodison Park has been called off due to safety concerns amid weather warnings in the Liverpool area and across the UK.

Wideman Daniel Munoz gave the hosts a surprise lead in the fourth minute at Selhurst Park, latching on to Will Hughes’ cross.
City took 26 minutes to score Erling Holland’s first League goal in three games through Mateus Nunes.
Kyle Walker was at fault as Maxence Lacroix pulled one back for Palace after 56 minutes. Rico Lewis leveled City 2-2 after 12 minutes and was sent off six minutes from time for a second caution.
The Citizens are fourth, a point adrift of Chelsea and Arsenal and eight points clear of the Reds, whose relegation means they have a game in hand.
Palace are four points above the 16th place and have now lost one of their last eight games in all competitions.

Brentford vs Newcastle: Bees win thriller
Brian Mbeumo’s solo strike gave Brentford an eighth-minute lead that lasted less than four minutes against Newcastle, who equalized when Alexander Isak headed in Jacob Murphy’s shot.
A good run and strike from Yoan Wissa put the Bees in front and their lead this time lasted just five minutes before Harvey Barnes, who missed Brentford’s second goal, fired home.
Wissa hit the post before Nathan Collins capitalized on a generous save to score the home side’s third in the 56th minute. Kevin Shade made it 4-2 in the 90th minute and put Brentford in sixth. Newcastle are in 12th place after 4 games without a win.

Aston Villa – Southampton
John Duran scored his first Premier League goal since September with a 24th-minute strike to give Villa the only goal in a home win over Southampton.
Villa’s second consecutive win moved them up to fifth, three points behind second-placed Chelsea. Saints are bottom and eight points from safety.
