KAL YAFAI says his brother Galal’s future rivals must have power if they are to keep him.
Galal, 9-0 (7 KOs), had a career success stopping former IBF champion Sunny Edwards, 21-2 (4 KOs), in six rounds. The writing was on the wall from the start as the undefeated challenger flew off the traps and ensured that Edwards couldn’t get into any rhythm.
But late in the second round, Edwards admitted to trainer Chris Williams that “I don’t want to be here.” The 28-year-old dug deep and fought back, but there wasn’t enough in his arsenal to stop Yafai from doing what he does best.
“You have to be able to hit to keep Galal down,” Cal said Boxing news then.
“With Galal, if you can’t punch, he will choke you and I don’t think Sunny can. He knows what Galol is capable of.”
Cal, a former WBA super heavyweight champion, predicted the fight would go to the eighth round before his brother’s victory.
He said about Galal: “He is an animal.” “He’s just a beast, and what we thought was gone.”
