Welcome, one and all, to our last meeting in “Netflix’s ‘Mindhunter’ Obsessive Anonymous” club. It has been quite a long time since we last gathered and desperately held the little spark of hope that the forces that would come to their senses and finally do the right thing. It would of course be to give the official green light to Another season of streaming’s best and most interrupted exhibitions in the last decade or so. “Mindhunter” Season 3 has quickly joined “GTA VI” and “The Winds of Winter” as pop cultural experiences that have all asked for … but seem constantly intended to never come to works.
Is there still a chance for more “mindhunter” in some Capacity, at least? I can already feel that the Internet collectively ties its you-know-whatsoever on the idea of being disappointed again, but this particular smoke may have some fire for it. Perhaps. Almost six years after we last saw the FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff), Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) and Dr. Wendy Carr (Anna Turv) tracked down serial murder and interviews them to get into the minds of genuine sociopaths still on the loose, we have finally got our most promising tease yet. In an interview with Comic booksMcCallany made the press rounds for his upcoming Netflix series “The Waterfront” (from the original “Scream” author Kevin Williamson) and again dealt with the speculation that cannot really disappear. According to the actor, however, there has been a certain movement on a “Mindhunter” comfort … but as a couple of full-fledged films, rather than another season. As he explained:
“So look, you know, I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he told me that there is a chance that it may come back like three two hours of movies, but I think it’s just a chance. I know there are writers who work, but you know, David must be happy with script.”
Mindhunter could return as three Netflix movies … But it’s not guaranteed
I know, I know. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times … Yes, maybe it’s time to stop letting Lucy Yank that football out during us at the last moment and just go home for the day. Nevertheless, we are members of the “Mindhunter” truths collective (I expect all your unpaid fees at the end of the month) to be clearly freezing for punishment. Despite each character indicating that the series was made for good – including from their own main creative power, David Fincher himself – This is a rumor that refuses to die.
Our latest Crackpot conspiracy theory comes with the permission of one of the big stars from the show, Holt McCallany, and his own conversation with Fincher. The actor confirmed that the potential “Mindhunter” films would be made for Netflix and that all pieces are in place to pull this off … theoretically, at least. In the end, it all comes to whether the notoriously difficult to please Fincher will log out on it. As he explained:
“So I think when it comes to dates and logistics, it can all be prepared, but it has to do with David really having time and slope and being happy with the material. And that’s a big question mark.”
You tell me. Fincher has seemed eagerly over the years to visit “Mindhunter” and get it to a satisfactory conclusion. Season 2 did not necessarily end up on a rockhanger, but it is clear that there is much more for the stories about Holden Ford, Bill Tench and Wendy Carr – not to mention the fall of the various serial orders to deal with newer decades. Like “Peaky Blinds,” Can a movie (or three) really be the best way to continue this series and bring it over the finish line? It seems to be a long shot, but maybe not as much as it was before. Both seasons of “Mindhunter” are currently flowing on Netflix.
