Australian national cricket team captain Pat Cummins has spoken about the star batsman’s struggles Marnus Labushagne in test cricket.
Pat Cummins has said there is an urgent need for former world No.1 batsman Marnus Labuschagne to be more active when batting in the second Test match of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Marnus Labuschagne failed in the Perth Test against India
Labushagne has been going through a lean patch in Test cricket for a long time. The 30-year-old, who has been one of the most consistent Test batsmen in the world, has struggled to get going and it has directly affected the performance of the Australian team.
In the Test series Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 opener Marnus Labuschagne looked miserable in the first innings before being dismissed for 2 off 52 balls. Also, in the second round, he hands one jasprit bumra delivery and dismissed LBW for 3 runs.
In his last 10 Test innings, Labuschagne has scored just 123 runs, with 90 of them coming in an innings against New Zealand in Christchurch. His last Test century came a year ago in the Manchester Test against the England national cricket team in July 2023.
Marnus Labuschagne is aiming for a strong comeback in the Adelaide Test against India as he has enjoyed a solid record at the venue, averaging 71.75.

The former world number 1 has been practicing hard at the nets and focusing on her hitting. Pat Cummins praised him for this and urged him to be more active in the Pink Test. He stated:
“He’s been training as well as ever and hitting a million balls. It’s kind of impossible to dismiss or ignore some of the comments about maybe being a little bit more active, so I think you’ve seen that side of it in the net. .
“The problem is always going there and making sure you have that mindset. But he was brilliant as always. Always working on things, trying to plan how he’s going to score hundreds in this test. gets.”
Pat Cummins updates on Mitchell Marsh
Pat Cummins also provided an important update Mitchell Marshwho has faced some problems and was sore after the first Test in Perth.
An Australian spokesman said Marsh had been given a few days’ leave from his bowling duties and would be available for the Adelaide Test if required. He said:
“(We’ve) made calls with the medical staff over the last couple of days to give him two days off with bowling, but wait for him to warm up and (he’ll) bowl if he has to.
“It is believed that he will be required at some point … instead of using some of them in the net, prioritize his advantage for games.”
Pat Cummins also hoped that his team is better prepared after facing the Indian team in the series opener. He elaborated:
“I hope some lessons have been learned. The good thing is that we’ve looked at them now, they’ve looked at us, but you look at some of the bowling schemes that you want to happen with the batsmen, they know , how they will attack first.”
