She described three medical procedures that a top surgeon had performed on her and would not recommend to others due to debilitating side effects.
Dr. Erin Nance, an orthopedic specialist in New York, says her first recommendation is LASIK eye surgery.
She said that Now she has perfect vision. After undergoing the surgery early last year, he suffered from eye pain morning and night for months.
During Lasik surgery, a special type A cutting laser is used to change the shape of the cornea – the clear, dome-shaped front part of your eye – to correct blurred vision.
The procedure can cause dry eye because when the lid in the cornea is cut, the nerves responsible for the production of tears can be damaged, especially during the healing process.
Dr. Nance in A Tiktok video, he said: ‘So, for what it’s worth, I’ve never had eye pain before and now I have eye pain every day so I personally don’t recommend it (LASIK).’
Up to 95 percent of LASIK patients experience dry eye symptoms immediately after surgery, and 60 percent experience them a month later.
However, chronic dry eye symptoms are uncommon after one year.

New York-based orthopedic specialist Dr. Erin Nance says her first recommendation is LASIK eye surgery.
“Every morning and night I feel like I’m sleeping in my contacts,” added Dr. Nance. During the day, there is no problem… I don’t even think about my eyes (and) I have perfect eyesight.
But for whatever reason, when I wake up at 7 o’clock in the morning, it scares me Dry eye disease.’
Next on the list of treatment options that don’t go away is eyelash enhancement medications.
Bimatoprost is marketed under the name Latisse, which mimics a natural chemical in our body that stimulates hair growth on our eyelids.

With regular applications along the lash line of the upper eyelid, the prescription drug gradually promotes longer, thicker and darker eyelids.
Dr Nance said she noticed an improvement in the first two weeks and her eyelids looked ‘amazing’.
But after three months of using the liquid on her upper eyelids, Dr. Nance said she noticed a troubling side effect, which was the loss of fat under her eyes.
She explained: “One of the side effects (of using Latisse) that I didn’t know about was something called periorbital fat atrophy or fat loss.
“(This is) where the fat under the eyes gets tighter and makes your eyes sunken in more and I noticed that.”
‘I’ve never had a tooth like this on my face before.’

About 700,000 people in the US undergo LASIK eye surgery each year, and it was approved by the FDA in 1999.
Dr. Nance says that she will not recommend Latisse to others after she experienced a reduction in the fat under her eyes.
According to consulting firm Grand View Research, the global eyelash serum market size is estimated to be USD 897.9 million by 2023 and is expected to grow further due to the ‘popularity of non-invasive beauty treatments’ driving the trend.
A report by Grand View Research on the eyelash serum market reveals that despite Latisse’s popularity, it ‘has faced challenges due to concerns about side effects, leading to a growing demand for alternative products that use safer ingredients’.
Some of the most frequently reported side effects of Latisse include itchy eyes, dry eyes, darkening of the eyelid skin, and abnormal hair growth.
Although rare, changes in eye color have also been reported.
This is because latex contains bimatoprost – a type of chemical known as a prostaglandin – which is an active ingredient known to cause changes in eye color.
Mail on Sunday health journalist Leah Hardy reported this shocking side effect in 2015 after experimenting with Latisse.
Raman Malhotra, consultant ophthalmologist at the Queen Victoria Hospital in West Sussex, told her at the time: ‘Eye color changes in adults only if they have chronic eye disease or an eye injury.
‘But bimatoprost can increase the brown color in the eye by stimulating pigment production.’
Finally, Dr. Nance advises against prematurely removing permanent retainers.
Permanent retainers are orthodontic devices that hold teeth after braces or Invisalign.
They are typically made of single pieces of metal wire or strong fiber, which are fixed to the top and bottom rows of teeth using a special bonding agent.
Dr. Nance said she had permanent braces fitted around age 21 after getting braces as a teenager.

Although uncommon, eye color changes have also been reported in people using Latisse. Mail on Sunday health journalist Leah Hardy reported this shocking side effect after trialling Latisse in 2015.
But she says she’s fed up with the ongoing dental work and doesn’t see the long-term benefits.
‘At the time I was like, ‘Okay, I’m done!’ I thought.
You know (when I was in college kissing my boyfriend) I didn’t want this permanent retainer on the back of my teeth… so I asked them to take it off.’
Because the retainer was removed earlier, Dr. Nance’s teeth returned to their original ‘difficult’ position.
She admitted her guilt and concluded: ‘Now, every video I have to watch myself go back on TikTok, I see how my teeth are back to how they were before I got braces.
I didn’t realize that my teeth would go back if I removed the retainer, so that’s the third thing I’ll never do.’
So far, Dr. Nance’s TikTok video has garnered more than 5,000 comments, with many viewers sharing their own horror stories.
One commenter wrote: ‘I will never have another IUD inserted without anesthesia or pain relief. After my endometriosis excision surgery I was in less pain. We want better health for women!’
Another viewer, who works in the medical field, added: ‘Bunion surgery! I never do it, but every patient I’ve seen since then says they had the surgery for a cosmetic improvement and all they got was leg pain every day.
