After anticipating fever from the fans, Spotify Wrapped is now here, giving you a look at your most listened to songs of 2024.
Spotify’s annual roundup reveals the songs and artists you played the most throughout the year – regardless of whether they were good or bad.
The viral marketing campaign displays each user’s listening experience – including their favorite songs and artists – as a slideshow in minutes.
However, users objected Spotify We’ve been slammed for being ‘boring’ and ‘ugly’ this year, with one angry commenter complaining that it ‘stinks AI‘.
At X (Twitter), one user wrote: ‘spotify made us wait all that time and wrapped it up with the worst photos and slideshow in years.’
Another wrote: ‘#SpotifyWrapped is lame this year and stinks of AI all over it with its bad design.’
They continued: ‘Really only great artists, music and moments that listen.
‘There is no list of interesting games, no interesting niche points. Unless it turned out well when it fell into the program, this was not worth the wait.’

Spotify users can start the Wrapped slideshow by simply going to the app’s home page and tapping ‘Your Wrapped’.
This year’s event also features additional AI-powered features, including AI DJ, an AI DJ that provides a premium radio experience for your top choices.
There is also the ‘Wrapped AI podcast’, new A feature powered by the Google NotebookLM tool where two AI hosts display your Overlaid results.
Meanwhile, with a little help from AI, Premium users can create custom playlists using their own Covered data for the first time.
Spotify has been open about its use of AI in special features of these Covers, although it is not known if it uses AI in the original screen.

With over 26.6 billion streams worldwide, Taylor Swift is Spotify’s 2024 Global Top Artist for the second year in a rowfollowed by The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish.
Swift’s latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ also became the top-grossing song of 2024 worldwide, followed by ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ by Billie Eilish.
However, neither Beyonce nor her critically acclaimed album Cowboy Carter is anywhere in the top 10 list, indicating a shocking drop in her popularity.
Looking at the UK in particular, Taylor Swift is also the top artist of 2024, followed by Drake, Kanye West, Billie Eilish and The Weeknd.
Similarly, Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ is the most played song in the UK, followed by ‘Short n’ Sweet’ is former teen actress and Disney star Sabrina Carpenter.

Spotify Wrapped is released on a different date each year, keeping fans guessing and ultimately fueling social media attention.
Its initial release in early December every year coincides with the rise of Spotify’s storefront, so the Swedish streaming giant does its best to increase it in advance.
Spotify Wrapped tracks users’ listening from early January to late October or sometime in November, meaning the last few weeks of the year aren’t left out.
Therefore, Covered does not represent the statistics of the whole year, although it is referred to as ‘the story of your year’.
It also means you can listen to the bullies to your heart’s content in December, safe in the knowledge that they won’t affect your Covered results.
