What is a computer? It is what helps me to do my job. I love new ideas for computers, but traditional work tools are still gaining. For my work, it is generally a PC or MAC. When I travel, an iPad is often convenient, but it is not the same, so I often carry the two things.
The “why not both” approach is exactly what Apple has been throwing with iPads and Macs for years, but Apple has also been forceful that these platforms will never merge. I remember the Announcement of the scene that said so much In 2018, and at that time, I said that Macos and ios had to combine.
I am willing to play the long game here, an Apple game usually plays with its technology. And I am ready to step on the way for a few years and wait for this moment of combination. I still don’t know. Maybe it will never happen. But my suspicion is that this new iPados almost like Mac, in some important ways, will not be a Mac.

Most iPads and Mac share the same M ephone hardware and work with similar keyboards and tracks. There is absolutely no reason that I can see why an iPad could not be a MAC, unless Apple decided that the software should be functionally different. (As for a Mac is an iPad, well, you would need a touch screen for this and you would need pencil support so it would be more complicated.)
Get that all Mac and iPad applications are really compatible between an operating system that acknowledged that they would not be easy, but Apple can do it. Mac’s applications had to go from intel -based hardware to ARM and before that from PowerPC to Intel. This time, at least the hardware is the same … but the objectives of the applications are different.
However, the missions are convergent. Macs, iPads and iPhones and all the rest are receiving similar visual designs Liquid glass and increasingly similar notifications and widgets. I do not want each Apple device to work exactly the same, but when it comes to iPads and MacBooks, two lines of products designed to carry them and put them in a bag, I think their overlaps are doing quite heavy now.

I don’t think iPads have to stop being simple. I agree with Apple: Leave Basic ipad flow Be the same and trigger multi-tile mode of work with a button press.
But I don’t want this multi-minusculous mode just approaches to be a Mac. I want it to be absolutely, it becomes positively a Mac. Leave the laptop left behind. Let the pro -models and a certain line of MacBooks converge.
This convergence will be necessary for another reason beyond the budget and the comfort of packaging. I could see myself carrying an iPad-Slash-Macbook in my bag and a couple of light views that work with it. I never see myself carrying a vision, an iPad and a Mac. Something must give.

I am glad that those who have expected forever have arrived, but I still do not understand why the iPad professionals cannot be MAC.
