An Apple insider leak has revealed which devices will be getting the latest update – and it could be a disappointment for some. iPhone and iPad users.
Good news, according to a report often-reliable from iPhoneSoft, is that any device running iOS 18 should be upgraded to iOS 19 when it is unveiled next year.
This means that anyone who owns an iPhone XS, iPhone XR or updates will have access to new information along with important security updates.
Meanwhile, anyone still using the iPhone X and iPhone 8 will miss out on Apple downloads support for these popular devices.
And even Apple fans with the latest devices can no longer find some of the most interesting features.
Because of Apple Intelligence’s massive computing needs, Apple’s AI software, iPhones older than the iPhone 15 Pro will not receive any of the upcoming updates.
But it will iPad Users are set for more disappointment, as Apple pulls support for the latest version.
According to the leak, the seventh generation iPad will not be updated to iOS 19 even though it was only released in 2019.

The iPhone XR (pictured) has already received software support for seven years but the leak will also be compatible with iOS19 when it is released next year. Along with the iPhone XS these will be the oldest devices that are compatible with the latest software
When Apple products are released, they usually only receive software updates for a few years.
In the past, iPhone models have sold out use the latest version of iOS for seven years after it is resolved.
However, Apple has been slowly increasing the number of years it continues to provide support, making it difficult to predict when a product will be dropped.
Although Apple has remained tight-lipped about the details, the tech giant is expected to release iOS 19 around September 2025 following the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
According to this latest leak, the oldest iPhone model that will now be compatible with this update will be the iPhone XS and XR, both of which were released in 2018.
This shakes up previous predictions that Apple may not continue to support these older devices with the latest software.
CCS Insight experts told MailOnline earlier they expect iOS 18 to be the last major update for these models, and help end in 2025.
However, the leak confirms expectations that the older iPhone X and iPhone 8, both released in 2017, may lose software support.

The leak claims that any device compatible with iOS18 will be compatible with iOS19. However, the Apple Intelligence feature should be exclusive to the iPhone15 Pro and newer (stock image)
Seven years after Apple stopped selling it is considered obsolete, which means that anyone who is still using these devices cannot support or repair them.
After being discontinued in 2018, both the iPhone X and iPhone 8 are scheduled to be discontinued next year, making it unlikely that Apple will continue to support these devices.
Likewise, the leak suggests that all iPads that can run iPadOS 18 will be able to run iOS19, except for the seventh-generation iPad.
This iPad model, released in 2019, was the last model to use Apple’s A10 chip.
Due to the increasing number of new software devices, it is believed that the most important requirement to run iPadOS 19 is the A12 chip which did not appear in the iPad until the eighth version in 2020.
Fortunately, this means that any other iPad model should run the latest operating system.
With iOS18 still receiving frequent updates, Apple hasn’t revealed much about what to expect from iOS19.
If the company follows the trend of previous years, we can expect to see previews of the software released in June 2025 and the next public release in September.

The seventh-generation iPad is expected to release software support next year, leaving users to access new features. This comes despite the fact that this model was only released in 2019
However, rumors already suggest that Apple may not have many new features in store.
As reported by iPhoneSoft, one Apple Insider says that he ‘has not started a small part of the next program, which is a first for him.’
Likewise, former Apple analyst Mark Gurman has said that the massive amount of work on iOS18 has not left enough time to prepare for next year’s software.
Writing on X, Gurman said: “I continue to hear that the gradual release of features from iOS 18 to iOS 18.4 is causing delays in some of the features planned for iOS 19.
‘This will lead to a long-term release of new products. Engineers are stuck working on iOS 18 projects when they are often using the next OS.’
This seems to be expected that several iOS18 tools, such as facial recognition and Siri’s personal activity or personal information on the lock screen, would have been released.
But with almost a year until the launch of iOS19, it is still too early to say what Apple is planning.
Apple has been contacted for comment.
