my favorite part of space balls it’s when yogurt opens up shop. As a child, I remember imagining what it would be like to go full space balls shop, not knowing that…for rights issues— It would literally never happen. But, in the decades that followedartists and fans have found ways to do the occasional piece of space balls merchandise and io9 can debut two of the coolest ones in a while today.
For the past few years, artist Cuyler Smith has been making it happen trading cards based on sports movies and television programs. Friday Night Lights, Point Break, Cobra Kai, Starship Troopers, you say it. This Friday, December 6, he debuts his sixth full series through Gallery 1988 and, this time, it features the Schwartzes. Below are images of Dark Helmet and Lone Star, as trading cards, by artist Cuyler Smith.

But wait, there’s more. This isn’t just cards. They are lenticular. So everyone can turn around to see how big each character’s Schwartz is.
It is true that there is a big difference between them space balls and something like that Starship Trooperswho actually has a sport. But Smith just felt he had to do this anyway.
“I had this idea for space balls for a while,” she told io9 via email. “I like cards that are a little unexpected and I couldn’t get the vision out of my head and always wanted one personally. Playing with the transition and depth was a fun challenge and I’m happy with how they turned out. I hope to do more cards like this in the future venturing further outside of traditional sports.”
The cards will be available as a set when Trading Cards 6 goes on sale at 2pm ET on Friday, December 6 on the 1988 Gallery website. There are 40 cards in total, most of which cost $18 each in editions of 80. The lenticulars, like space ballsthey are editions of 250 and cost $25 each, though space balls it’s only available as part of a $50 set.
So far, Smith has revealed letters from Coming to America, Dumb and Dumber, Community, and more See the full show, incl space ballsfriday
