ex”who’s boss“The child star, Danny Pintauro, was hospitalized after an accident while riding his scooter on Thanksgiving.
Pintauro, who played Jonathan Bower on the hit sitcom, shared a video slideshow on Instagram featuring photos from the hospital, explaining that he underwent emergency surgery to repair a tear in his stomach. He was injured while riding his scooter on Thanksgiving night and the bike lane he was in was “suddenly blocked by cones.”
“I was forced to choose between a van and a pylon,” his post read. “The pylons hurt!! I got a horrible scrape on my arm and I was convinced I broke my hand. It was completely fine the next morning so I wasn’t too worried.”
It wasn’t until the next day, Saturday, November 30, that he began experiencing “strange chest pains” that later spread to his stomach and shoulder muscles, saying the pain was so severe, “I couldn’t breathe.”

Pintauro later took her husband, Will Tabares, to the hospital, and after multiple tests, it was confirmed that the accident had torn the lining of his stomach, causing “a An infection in my bloodstream,” and “wind and stomach acid, etc., escaping into my stomach.”
“The most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my entire life,” Pintauro shared Sunday, adding that the discovery “led to emergency surgery last night to repair the tear.”

“The surgery went well and now that it’s fixed, the pain is pretty much gone, although I’m still very sore,” she said. “They took out the intubation tube, but had to leave another tube in my stomach for three days to remove the acids, so that the stitches they made and the repair wouldn’t be disturbed. This meant I wouldn’t eat or drink anything for the next three days.”

Pintauro reflects on the very real possibility that the situation could have ended differently for him, saying, “If I had waited any longer, I could have died.” She realized how important it is to listen to your body, explaining that she was “the one who told me something was wrong.”

She went on to thank her “wonderful husband” for being by her side through it all, as well as the doctors and nurses at Memorial Care Miller Hospital who cared for her.
“Unfortunately, that means and any book corners I’ve been working on will have to wait a few more days so I’ll change the shipping dates to reflect that. I think that’s OK. It’s my first major surgery, first emergency surgery ever but I’ve kept it together.”
He continued: “If someone wants to send me flowers, I won’t resist. Lol just kidding. I’m stressed, hungry, sore and tired. Light a candle for me, okay? Oh! They did an X-. My arm beam and it’s not broken so there’s a bright side.
Pintauro stars in “Who’s the Boss” alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, Alyssa Milano and Catherine Helmandfor nearly 200 episodes spanning eight seasons from 1984 to 1992.

After the end of the series, Pintauro largely withdrew from the limelight, choosing to Get out of California And on a different career path. He has since appeared sporadically on the show, most notably in “The Quarantine Bunch” in 2020 and “A Country Christmas Harmony” in 2022.
