Tourists have been warned because Spanish authorities issue a wildfire warning for a holiday hotspot this summer.
A pre-alert was issued for the Canary Islands, just as thousands of British prepared to fly to the archipelago.
The General Emergency Directorate issued the warning, which extends to Tenerife, Grand Canaria, La Palma, La Gomera and Ei Heirro.
This comes after the wet season of the island, with dry and warm winds that begin to blow from the Sahara desert, known as ‘Calima’.
The warning is in place until further notice, as the authorities have requested residents and tourists to increase their vigilance.
