Twitter Reactions: 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavansh knocks India’s U-19 team into the semi-finals of the 2024 Asia Cup.



In the 12th game Asian Cup 2024 ACC U19, India U19 won United Arab Emirates U19 by 10 wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. 13-year-old Woody, India’s opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored an outstanding unbeaten half-century to guide India to a remarkable victory. This comprehensive victory secured the Indian team a place in the semi-finals of the tournament where they will face Sri Lanka U19 on Friday (December 6).

UAE struggle with India’s bowling attack

Winning the shootout, the UAE chose to box first. However, their innings struggled to gain momentum and ended on 137 in 44 overs. Dough in medium order Ryan Hon provided the only significant resistance with 35 off 48 balls, including three fours and a six. The Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Yudhajit Guha led the offense, scoring 3 on 21 balls in his 7 runs. Chetan Sharma also played a crucial role, taking 2 wickets in his 8-ball economy and giving away just 28 runs.

India’s dominance secures semi-final berth

India’s response was not surprising. Openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre dismantled the UAE bowling attack with ease and chased down the target of 138 in 16.1 overs without losing a wicket. Vaibhav was unbeaten on 76 off 46 balls and showed his maturity and skill with three fours and three sixes. Mhatre complemented him brilliantly, scoring 67 not out off 51 balls that contained 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Mhatre’s all-round contribution earned him the man of the match award. Apart from his unbeaten half-century, he also took a crucial wicket during the UAE innings, highlighting his value to the team.

With this dominant performance, India U19 cemented its position as one of the favorites in the tournament. Their upcoming semi-final clash with Sri Lanka promises to be an interesting contest.
