British tourists traveling to travel to Spain has been warned after a deadly virus that can cause multiple organ failure in the country.
The Foreign Office issued the warning about its dedicated website Travel Health Pro after a case of the Criman Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) was found in Salamanca.
In an official statement said: ‘On May 28, 2025, local health officials reported a confirmed case of the Criman-Congo-Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in Salamanca.
“The case was exposed via a tick bite.”
CCHF is a tick -borne virus, with mild symptoms such as dizziness, high fever, headache, sore eyes, diarrhea and muscle pain.
More serious consequences include bleeding and bruising and can lead to rapid decline of the kidney, as well as organ failure.
According to the World Health OrganizationThe death rate in people who contract the virus is about 30 percent.
Those who do recover from notice just over a week later.

According to the World Health Organization, the death rate in people who contract the virus is about 30%
Travel Health Pro says: ‘In fatal cases, death occurs due to bleeding, multi-organic failure and shock.
“It is possible that many people who are infected do not have symptoms, making it difficult to know the true number of cases.”
Treatments for the condition are limited, although doctors have had some success with the antiviral drug ribavirin used to treat hepatitis C.
The disease was spotted in Crimea for the first time in 1944 and given the name Crimean hemorrhagic fever.
But in 1969, medicine realized that the pathogen causing this disease was responsible for a disease identified in the Congo in 1956.
As a result, the virus called the Crimean Congo-Hemorrhagic Fever to encompass both locations.
